of operation on
13th September 2016
We give thanks for the work of:
- Rev. Christiana Asinugo, Co-ordinating Chaplain
- The volunteer Chaplains and Welcomers
- All who have worked, and continue to work, to serve the
staff and visitors at Europe’s largest urban Shopping Centre
The Space and Chaplaincy are managed by
inSpire Stratford, a ministry from local Churches.

The inSpiration Rest and Faith Space celebrates 5 years of service at Westfield Stratford City on 13th September. inSpiration has been part of Westfield since the day it opened. The space offers a place for prayer, reflection and quiet at the heart of Europe's largest urban shopping centre. It is a true multi-faith space, where people of all faiths and none are welcome.
inSpiration is managed by inSpire Stratford, a group drawn from local Churches. We worked with Westfield to establish the first-ever faith space in a Westfield Centre; (now all Westfield developments have or plan a Faith Space - Newham leads, others follow!)
InSpire provides Welcomers for the Faith Space and manages the Chaplaincy team. The inSpiration team is led by Rev Christiana Asinugo, co-ordinating Chaplain and Vicar of nearby St Matthew's Church West Ham. There are structured Friday Prayers, led by a local Imam, and regular Sunday services, including a monthly service of Holy Communion, led by St John's Stratford.
Highlights of the 5 years have included Christmas Carol Services, Maundy Thursday Shoe Shine sessions, Ash Wednesday services, and a visit by Archbishop Justin Welby in May 2014. The real success story, however, has been the constant quiet presence, the listening ear of a Chaplain or Welcomer, and the opportunity to serve the many thousands who make up the Westfield community.
We plan to celebrate 13th September with a special Prayer Card, a free pen for all visitors, and prayers of Thanksgiving for all who have worked with us over the past 5 years.
Do come in and visit us, pray with us and celebrate God's love for Westfield.
